Percy Jackson and the Olympians is an award winning book series by author Rick Riordan. The books focus on a young boy named Percy Jackson, who at the age of twelve finds out that there's a reason he has ADHD, dyslexia and his math teacher is literally trying to kill him. Namely, Percy is one of the many demigod children of the still-active Mount Olympus (which is now on floor 600 of the Empire State building). But if that wasn't enough for Percy to handle, he finds out he could possibly be the hero mentioned in the prophecy that decides the fate of the gods when they turn sixteen. Along with his two best friends, Grover and Annabeth, Percy ends up on one crazy adventure after another. Each summer brings a new quest, new friends and new challenges to face. Whether it's the Fates knitting their socks of Death, the Sphinx issuing standardized tests, or reviving the dead using Happy Meals- Percy and his friends stick together and make it through one dangerous mission after another.

This FST is dedicated to the trio of Percy, Grover and Annabeth and their friends- the children of the prophecies that the Oracle issues before each quest. Friends, former enemies, immortals, a satyr, a mortal and a fair share of demigods- it's through these children that the dark powers stirring in the underworld haven't won yet.

With music ranging from pop to alternative rock to classic rock to Wizard Rock and Rick Astley (come on, you know with Grover's horrible taste in music he would love him)- this FST aims to tackle the story of this group of friends and their adventures. As such, there will be SPOILERS for all four of the books that have been released (The Lightning Thief, Sea of Monsters, Titan's Curse, and The Battle of the Labyrinth) so tread carefully. But otherwise, I hope you enjoy this 51 song FST!

Percy Jackson:

Percy Jackson led a pretty normal life, well if you consider being kicked out of every school he went to normal, until the age of twelve when he discovers that he's a demigod son of Poseidon. If that wasn't complicated enough for him, it turns that there's a prophecy that the next child of the Big Three (Zeus, Hades and Poseidon) will make a decision when they are sixteen that will either save or destroy the gods.

But one upside is that as a child of Poseidon, Percy gets some pretty awesome water-related powers. He can breathe underwater, won't get wet unless he wants to, and can bend the water to his will to help fight off bullies trying to give him a swirly.

2. Adrian Belew- Superboy (lyrics)

Every hero has a fatal flaw, and Percy is no different. This has already been used against him by Kronos: first by taking his mother, then by capturing his friend Grover and then Annabeth. As Athena warns him: "Your fatal flaw is personal loyalty, Percy. You do not know when it is time to cut your losses. To save a friend, you would sacrifice the world. In a hero of the prophecy, that is very, very dangerous."

Grover Underwood:

Grover is Percy's best friend, and has been even before Percy knew about what he really was. Oh, and did I mention he's a satyr? It's his job to protect Percy, but he's not too great at it. This is because his last job went bad and so his self-esteem is rather low. But when Percy receives his first quest, Grover bites the bullet and offers to come along.

"You saved my life, Percy. If...if you're serious about wanting me along, I won't let you down."

4. Nichole Nordeman- Brave (lyrics)

Grover's bravery on his first quest with Percy earns him his searchers license so he can go off and seek out the lost god, Pan. On his mission, he's captured by a Cyclops and sends a call out to Percy to get help. Then he joins the Hunters and their quest to save Artemis. All in all, he's not quite the same shy goat boy he used to be.

When Grover finally finds Pan, the god is dying. Pan had chosen Grover to be the satyr that found him and asks him to carry his message to the world.

"You are the strongest and bravest. Your heart is true. You have believed in me more than anyone ever has, which is why you must bring the message, and why you must be the first to release me."

Annabeth Chase:

Annabeth Chase is a daughter of Athena who has been at camp since she was seven. She's eagerly waited for the hero who she is going to accompany on a quest. This hero turns out to be Percy and she's more than ready to leave camp and prove herself.

Like Percy, Annabeth also has a fatal flaw. On the good side, her creative and inventive pride helps her out of sticky situations; but she knows if she doesn't control it that it could get out of hand.

"Hubris means deadly pride, Percy. Thinking you can do things better than anyone else...even the gods."

Even when face to face with The Sphinx, Annabeth isn't afraid to speak her mind when she finds the questions too easy. ("I'm a child of a Athena. And this is an insult to my intelligence. I won't answer these questions.") But when it comes to her love life, between Luke's betrayal and Percy being a bit slow on the uptake, things aren't going quite so smoothly.

Tyson:

Tyson has never fit in. This is mostly because he's a cyclops who has been living on the streets trying to fend for himself. But after meeting his half-brother, Percy, Tyson finds his place in the world.

Clarisse:

Daughter of Ares, Clarisse seems like nothing more than a standard bully at first. But there's more to Clarisse than meets the eye; a not-so-mean side that surfaces when she lets Percy and Annabeth join her quest for the Golden Fleece and her secret mission for Chiron that leads her to find Chris.

Thalia:

Daughter of Zeus, Thalia made her final stand on Half-Blood Hill and was turned into a pine tree by her father. When the Golden Fleece works too well and revives her, Thalia is tempted to become the child of the Big Three Prophecy and must decide before her sixteenth birthday in a few days whose side she's on.

Zoё Nightshade:

Zoё fell in love with a hero and helped him on his quest only to be betrayed by him in the end and disowned by her family. She then joins the Hunters of Artemis, swearing off men and fighting until her dying breath to help Artemis.

Bianca di Angelo:

Bianca, along with her brother Nico, have been orphans as long as they can remember. Tired of having to raise her brother and wanting her own life, she joins up with the Hunters of Artemis and bravely takes on the Talos prototype alone.

Nico di Angelo:

Nico started out as an excitable young boy of 10 who enjoyed playing card games. But when his sister dies after Percy promised to protect her, Nico's true nature as a son of Hades surfaces. He then runs away from camp where he feels he doesn't fit in and never will.

Rachel Elizabeth Dare:

An average mortal girl, Rachel has the ability to see through the Mist and therefore can see monsters and pathways that even demigods cannot. Being as she tends to walk to the beat of her own drum, she doesn't mind going off to help Percy and Annabeth on their quest through the Labyrinth.

Thalia, Grover & Annabeth:

When Grover tried to lead Thalia to Camp Half-Blood, Annabeth was one of the other half-bloods who came along too.

Making her final stand ontop of the hill by the camp, Thalia sacrificed her life to ensure the others made it to safety. Zeus then turned her into a pine tree which stands atop Half-Blood Hill.

Grover & Percy

When Percy receives his quest to retrieve the missing lightning bolt, Grover offers to come along and help. Percy is extremely grateful.

I felt so relieved I wanted to cry, though I didn't think that would be very heroic. Grover was the only friend I'd ever had for longer than a few months. I wasn't sure what good a satyr could do against the forces of the dead, but I felt better knowing he'd be with me.

When Grover is captured by the Cyclops Polyphemus, he uses an empathy link to contact Percy to get help.

During the final fight against Atlas, Grover uses the empathy link again to help keep Percy focused. When Percy is forced to bear the weight of the sky, it's Grover's words that keep him fighting.

Fight back! Grover's voice said inside my head. Don't give up.

21. 3 Doors Down- Kryptonite (lyrics)

When Grover gets down about his searchers license possibly being revoked, Percy tries his best to cheer him up.

"You haven't failed. You're the champion goat boy, all right? Juniper knows that. So do I."

We don't know what these two friends will face next, but we know they'll face it together.

Percy & Annabeth:

Percy's other companion for his first quest is Annabeth, giving Percy another person to lean on when things get tough.

Annabeth grabbed hold of my hand. Under normal circumstances, this would've embarrassed me, but I understood how she felt. She wanted reassurance that somebody else was alive on this boat.

During their second quest they find themselves entering the Sea of Monsters. Annabeth asks Percy to let her listen to the Siren's song, something that drives her to tears because of what they show her.

She started to sob- I mean horrible, heartbroken sobbing. She put her head on my shoulder and I held her.

25. Angels and Airwaves- Sirens (lyrics)

When Annabeth is captured to help lure Artemis into a trap, the Hunters set out on a quest to save Artemis. Percy goes along with their group, trekking across the US. But Aphrodite knows the real reason he's helping them isn't because of Artemis.

"Because really, how boring these Hunters are! A quest for some monster, blah blah blah. Saving Artemis. Let her stay lost, I say. But a quest for true love--"

26. Ally Kerr- The Sore Feet Song (lyrics)

Deep inside Mt. St. Helens, the telekhines are growing in number and Percy knows he's got to do something about it. Not about to drag Annabeth into it, he insists she goes back without him.

"But you'll be killed!"

"I'll be fine. Besides, we've got no choice."

Annabeth glared at me like she was going to punch me. And then she did something that surprised me even more. She kissed me.

And whether he completely realizes it or not, Percy's gotten rather attached to this daughter of Athena.

I was glad to be with her, but it also kind of hurt, and it hurt when I wasn't with her too.

Percy & Tyson:

At first, Percy isn't too thrilled to find out he has a cyclops as a half-brother. Definitely not cool. But as the quest progresses, Percy comes to accept Tyson in his life and is heartbroken when it appears he is killed. Needless to say, when Tyson returns to help save the day- Percy is very glad to have him as a half-brother.

Tyson sniffled. "Brothers help each other."

"You're my brother," I said. "No doubt about it."

When Tyson returns during Percy's fourth year at camp, he comes along with Percy and the others on their quest into the Labyrinth.

I didn't know why she was so certain, but I was happy she'd included Tyson. I couldn't imagine leaving him behind. He was huge and strong and great a figuring out mechanical things.

Percy & Nico:

Percy and Nico's relationship gets off on the wrong foot after Percy promises to keep Nico's sister Bianca safe and she dies on the quest. Nico takes it personally.

"Nico," I said. "I tried. But Bianca gave herself up to save the rest of us. I told her not to. But she-"

"You promised!"

He glared at me, his eyes rimmed with red. He closed his small fist around the god statue.

"I shouldn't have trusted you."

31. Horrorpops- You vs. Me (lyrics)

Percy begins to worry that Nico's trying to get revenge on him, but Nico is more interested in trying to bring back his dead sister. When all is said and done at the end of the quest, Nico forgives Percy and offers to tell him if he finds out anything while poking around the Underworld. And it seems that their relationship is off on a better foot this time around...

"Is that...blue birthday cake?"

He sounded hungry, maybe a little wistful. I wondered if the poor kid had ever had a birthday party, or if he'd ever even been invited to one.

"Come inside for cake and ice cream," I said. "It sounds like we've got a lot to talk about."

Percy & Rachel:

A strange mortal girl who can see the monsters at Hoover Dam isn't someone Percy expects to run into at his school orientation. Luckily for him, her ability to see through the Mist comes in handy to help him against some pretty nasty demon cheerleaders and to help lead the quest into the Labyrinth.

"Look, I'm sorry I got you involved in this."

"No, you were right," she said. "I can see the path. I can't explain it, but it's really clear."

Group:

In Percy's first year at camp, he is given the quest of finding and returning Zeus's master lightning bolt.

On this quest, he takes along two companions: Grover and Annabeth.

By the end of the quest, Percy realizes just what great friends they are and chooses their safety above all else.

I felt like my heart was being ripped in two. They had both been with me through so much. I remembered Grover dive-bombing Meduse in the statue garden, and Annabeth saving us from Ceberus; we'd survived Hephaestus's Waterland ride, the St. Louis Arch, the Lotus Casino. I had spent thousands of miles worried that I'd be betrayed by a friend, but these friends would never do that. They had done nothing but save me, over and over, and now they wanted to sacrifice their lives for my mom.

Percy's second summer at camp he has strange dreams about Grover being in danger. When Clarisse is given the quest to find the Golden Fleece instead of him, Percy sneaks out of camp with Annabeth and Tyson to save Grover.

Clarisse ends up picking up the trio as they escape the Hydra and lets them on board her ship. They then enter the Sea of Monsters.

Right before the winter solstice, Annabeth is captured to lay a trap for Artemis. The Hunters of Artemis receive the quest to go and help their goddess, along with Grover and the restored Thalia- but Percy isn't chosen. Not about to leave Annabeth alone, he follows the group.

Percy has dreams of Annabeth trapped beneath Atlas's sky burden and knows she's in grave danger. Determined to rescue her above all else, Aphrodite sends him help since he's on the quest for Annabeth's sake rather than Artemis.

By the end of the quest, the Hunters have lost their two members and both Annabeth and Percy bear reminders of their burden holding up the sky.

She touched the new streak of grey in my hair that matched hers exactly- our painful souvenir from holding Atlas's burden.

The next summer, Annabeth is given a quest to venture into the Labyrinth to help stop Kronos's attack on the camp. Even though it goes against the quest tradition of only three members, Annabeth insists she needs her three friends: Percy, Grover and Tyson.

The four enter the Labyrinth, escape an evil ranch and have to split up so they can find both Daedalus and Pan.

Along the way, Annabeth and Percy enlist Rachel to guide them. Then, they pick up Nico who has decided to help them out after they save his life at the ranch. After meeting back up with Tyson and Grover, the ragtag group is there to witness the lost god Pan's final moments and are entrusted with helping Grover spread the message. When the attack on the camp is averted, Percy is quick to note that "It was a group effort."
