Prompt: Smile
Pairing: Germany/Italy
Word Count: 96

Although it was not a trait Germany would usually find admirable in a soldier, he often found himself impressed by Italy's uncanny knack to always be able to smile. No matter how bad things got, or how bleak the outcome seemed, Italy kept smiling.

And sometimes, when he was certain no one was looking, Germany would let his lips quirk just a bit upward. So he'd smile, telling himself it had nothing to do with how his eyes were focused only on Italy and everything to do with setting a good example for the other soldiers.

Prompt: Dogs
Pairing: Germany/Italy
Word Count: 379

"Berlitz! Aster! Out of those bushes!"

The two dogs obeyed immediately, both bounding across the yard to seat themselves at Germany's feet. They waited expectantly, tongues lolling out of their mouths and tails wagging.

"Explain to me why you have strayed out of your designated yard area?"

If possible the dogs exchanged a look before going back to panting. Germany sighed. Dog training had definitely filled the void in his life managing soldiers had left, but their inability to communicate was a definite drawback.

Knowing there had to be a valid reason for his prized dogs to disobey his rules, Germany decided he would investigate the bushes himself.

"Stay," he commanded. Berlitz and Aster sat up proud and looked attentive. "Good dogs."

A few steps forward towards the vegetation in question and they rustled. A familiar head of russet hair and a curl poked out. Germany rubbed his forehead, unsurprised that Italy had something to do with this rule-breaking behavior.

"Germany, Germany! Look, I found a puppy!" He exclaimed, a small black bundle in his arms.

Walking over to Italy, Germany patted the dog's head. It squirmed to life at that, stretching between the two countries and licking at Germany's face.

"He likes you, Germany!"

"Hmm. It explains Berlitz and Aster's sudden interest in my rose bush. They must have sensed him on the property and were trying to alert me to it."

"Can we keep him?"

The dog had turned to lick Italy now, the nation giggling as he did so.

No collar. Matted fur. And he seems to be underfed for his breed. Probably a stray. But with a bath, good food and training...

Germany cleared his throat. "I suppose if we can't find the owner, that is."

Italy cheered, hugging Germany with the puppy happily sandwiched between them- his tail wagging and small body wiggling.

"Good! Ve~ I already named him Blackie, since he's got black fur. That's a nice name, isn't it Germany?"

He twitched at the suggestion. Aster, Berlitz- those were honorable canine names, but Blackie was...

Germany opened his mouth to voice a protest and was met with not one but two sets of pleading puppy eyes. He gulped, Italy's wide eyes almost worse than the dog's.

He sighed. "Fine. Blackie it is."

Prompt: Beach
Pairing: fem!America/fem!England
Word Count: 172

Don't get her wrong, it wasn't like she hated the beach. There was certainly a good deal of things that England hated much more than the beach. But the list of bad things about the beach definitely outweighed the good. The sand in unpleasant places, the sunburns she always got on her pale British skin, the pitiful looks her smaller breasts got from the guys who were all shamelessly ogling the other girls.

Now that she thought about it, what was good about the beach anyways? She could be at home, doing important paperwork and having a nice cup of tea, rather that indulging in America's childish whim to go flounce about half-clad in the water.

"England!" America's sing-song voice called out and she looked up.

Her face flushed immediately on realizing that America, that shameless Yankee hussy, had changed into the skimpiest bikini and had nothing but a white shirt over it all. A wet white shirt.

Perhaps- not that she was staring! - the beach wasn't so bad after all.

Prompt: Trains
Pairing: England/America
Word Count: 105

He spotted him leaning up against a brick pillar; the contrast of his light hair and clothes with the red brick making him rather noticeable. America sidled up beside him, peering around the pillar as he said his hellos.

England smiled, slightly, and tugged America around to stand beside him. Their words were lost amidst the bustling people and the clatter of the train entering the station. America grinned as England pressed him back against the pillar; their lips crashing together as the train came to a stop, all steam and screeching brakes.

But it didn't matter to them. They didn't need any words here.

Prompt: Heroic Brooding
Pairing: America/England
Word Count: 124

He wasn't pouting. Heroes didn't pout. Sulk, maybe. But definitely not pout.

In fact, America concluded, he was brooding. As a hero, he could definitely brood; Batman brooded all the time. And he's sure if Batman saw that Robin was ignoring him in favor of talking to imaginary creatures, that Batman would have every right to heroically brood.

It's not like he cared if England was ignoring him. It was just the principle of being ignored in favor of something no one could see. He could heroically brood. Like Batman. Over Robin. Who even America couldn't deny had tons of ~moments~ together.

And with a very broody, heroic, expression- America sulked off trying not to think about how England was so obviously his Robin.

Prompt: Roses
Pairing: America/England
Word Count: 452

"For nothing this wide universe I call, Save thou, my rose; in it thou art my all."

It was absolutely, positively, one of the most embarrassing things England had ever lived through. His heart was hammering in his chest and he knew, quite well, that his face simply had to be scarlet.

Holding a shaky hand to his cheek, he could feel the heat emanating off and swallowed hard. This was no time to be acting like a schoolgirl; he did have his gentleman's image to uphold.

"I-If you would p-pardon us, your Majesty."

The Queen inclined her head, a smile quirking at her lips as she watched her country grab the other nation and drag him bodily from the room.

England closed the door quietly, as not to disturb her Majesty any further, and walked briskly down the hallway. Stopping at a good distance away from the door, he paused to take a few deep breaths and calm his nerves.

"What...the bloody hell...were you thinking?" He said amidst gasps. "The Queen and I were having our afternoon tea and you barge in to...to..."

His face flushed again as his eyes darted down to the bouquet of flowers that had started it all. They were red roses- his favorite.

"I'm sorry," the small voice interrupted his thoughts. "I wanted to surprise you."

He sounded so genuine, so apologetic, that England couldn't muster any ill will against him.

"A-America..." The Briton hung his head, his emotions starting to get the best of him.

"Huh?" He blinked.

"Oh blast it all!" England snapped at him, his eyes flickering up to meet America's. "You come waltzing in here- today of all days! - with flowers and start butchering the Bard with your practiced speech and...and..."

America smiled, reaching out a hand to brush a tear off England's cheek. "You're crying. Please tell me my Shakespeare wasn't that bad. I did practice..."

England chuckled, rubbing his eyes quickly with his sleeve before closing the space between them. Clutching his arms around America, he buried his face in his chest. "It was horrid," he remarked, smiling. "Worst Valentine's gift ever And in front of the Queen, no less!"

Threading one hand into England's hair, America gently held the bouquet against England's back. He smiled. "Looks like I'll have to do it again next year since you hated it so much."

England leaned up, kissing him fiercely. He pulled away and gave him a stern look. "Next year, not in front of the Queen."

America started to laugh, pecking a kiss on England's nose as he crossed his arms and tried to look angry. "Okay. I promise. Next year I'll make sure it's in front of your boss."

All these are really cute, but I think I liked the first one best, Smile. It was just quite touching and lovely for those two.

...And America barging in on England having tea with the Queen was hilarious!

I loved the ones with Germany and Italy, the Heroic Brooding one, and the Roses one! The other ones were a tad short, but still cute.

I love these. So hard.

I love that even America is a Batman/Robin 'shipper. And that he would totally make an emotional display in front of the Queen (and hee, threaten to do it in front of the PM next year!).

And Blackie! His origin revealed. The fact that German talks to his dogs is adorable and very much crazy dog daddy. <3

Thank you!
